TheDFEmodulesinstalledinaMatrixE7,MatrixN1,MatrixN3,MatrixN5,orMatrixN7
chassisareinterdependentandoperat e underasingleIPaddressasasingle,distributed
switchsystem(hardware,databases,andpersistentstorage).Inthisoperating
environment,theDFEmodulemustshutdowninanorderlyfashion
toensurethatthe
othermodulesinthesystemandotherdevicesonthenetworkarenotifiedofthe
impendingchange.Thedevice(s)canthenmakeintelligentdecisionsandstabilizethe
networkbeforethechangeismade;therebyincreasingnetworkavailability.
YoucanshutdownaDFEmoduleinanoperating
systemusingtheOFFLINE/RESET
switchshowninFigure 4‐2.Thereare twoprocedurestoshutdownaDFEmodule.
